Spend the holidays in Gardner

November 20, 2020

The old saying “Home for the Holidays” might be a little more literal this year, but there are plenty of ways to make the season special right here in Gardner.

Whether you are hosting a small family gathering, sitting around the fireplace with friends or feeling a little more adventurous, this Symphony Farms holiday guide for Gardner will hopefully spark some ideas for you.

Celebrate with the City

Gardner Parks and Recreation always finds a way to make the holidays extra special with a lineup of fun activities for residents and this year is no different.

Starting November 16, you can stop by City Hall to pick up a Santa Claus Countdown to Christmas craft kit. Also grab a breakfast kit that features Chris Cakes pancake mix, a letter for Santa and a City of Gardner ornament along with other goodies.

Then, tune into Facebook Live at 6:30 p.m. on November 30 for a message from Mayor Shute and a first look at the light display in Cornerstone Park during the 30th Annual Christmas in the Park event. RSVP on Facebook for updates and reminders.

And finally, grab a mask and head to Cornerstone Park on December 4th, 5th or 6th for Photos with Santa. A $10 fee gets you a professional photo to download and print, a city of Gardner ornament and a candy cane.

Visit www.gardnerparks.com for more information and event registration.

Shop Small

When you are shopping for gifts or holiday treats, consider some of the wonderful small businesses in the area like Groundhouse Coffee or Betty’s Pies & Cobblers. A salon gift card is always a welcome idea too whether the recipient prefers a massage or a manicure.

Check the Gardner Edgerton Chamber of Commerce website to search by category and support your neighbors as we round out the year.

Get Cozy

We are seeing holiday decorations go up earlier than ever this year and we love it. This is a great way to get comfortable in your home and really make the space your own.

If your decor needs a refresh, check Pinterest for easy family-friendly crafts that you can make at home. They have tutorials for everything from making wreaths to ornaments and even fake snow to flock your tree. There are seemingly endless recipes with pumpkin pie spice too if you have quarantine chefs looking to expand their offerings.

TikTok has also become a very creative space with viral videos of hot chocolate bombs and charcuterie boards for easy seasonal entertaining.

We hope you have a safe and fun holiday season in Symphony Farms! Stay tuned to our social media for more events around town and let us know if there is anything we missed. Call (913) 884-6300 or contact us with questions about life in Symphony Farms.
