It might not feel like summer’s coming to an end with the weather outside, but it’s the inevitable truth. School has begun, pools are ready to close for the season and schedules will be more jam-packed than ever—but lucky for you, there’s plenty of ways to enjoy this time of year. Residents of Symphony Farms, Gardner’s premier new-construction community, can spend time getting their home ready, soaking up the last few weeks in the sun and planning for fun fall activities that are on the horizon.
Prepare your home for back-to-school season
Whether your kids are already back at school or you’re preparing for the weeks ahead, there’s a few ways to prepare your Symphony Farms home to make the transition ahead simpler.
Start by decluttering and organizing your home’s mudroom, where kids can store their everyday items upon returning home from school. Mudrooms are a sought-after feature in any floor plan, and we included them to meet the needs of today’s homeowners. Create an organizational system above the mud bench with labeled hooks and storage baskets—perfect for leaving backpacks, masks, instruments, sports equipment, shoes, permission slips, notes for parents and more. When everyone has a spot to store their stuff, getting out of the house in the morning (with everything they’ll need) is a breeze.
Although you probably already have this set up from last school year, make sure each child has a space where they can participate in virtual learning (if needed), work on homework, tackle projects and study for tests. A desk is perfect for older children, while a shorter drawing table or similar set-up works well for younger kids.
Enjoy the end of summer
Just because school is nearing or already started, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the best that summer has to offer. Living in Symphony Farms means you have access to a private, resort-style pool that the whole family can enjoy. August is the last month the pool will be available before it’s closed for the season, so make sure you visit soon!
North of Symphony Farms is Celebration Park, featuring a large pond with two miles of walking trails, a playground, baseball fields, soccer fields, open green space and more. Families from all over Gardner gather in the area to spend time outside, whether they’re playing a game or celebrating a special event.
Fall events to look forward to
Speaking of special events, the start of the school year signals the arrival of fall events and activities for residents of all ages. Celebration Park will host the Smoke on the Trails BBQ Competition in mid-September, with the Grand Slam Beer, Wine and Spirits Festival occurring the first Friday of October. Later in October, kids and their families can get in the spooky spirit at the annual Boo Bash celebration.
Additionally, youth sports are starting up soon for the fall season. If your child isn’t quite old enough for sports in school, or wants additional time to practice and have fun with teammates, check out the list of available athletics offered by Gardner Parks and Recreation.
Organized sports aren’t just for the kids, either—Gardner hosts Women’s Indoor Volleyball League at New Century Fieldhouse starting in mid-September. Get registered as an individual or a team today!
