Making a wishlist for your next home

December 16, 2020

A new backdrop, a new view, a new home. That sounds really nice at the end of a crazy year. And if moving is one of your goals for 2021, now is the time to start making a wishlist of the features you want in your next home. Plus, Symphony Farms is set to grow again with a new phase breaking ground in the Spring.

To help you get started, our sales staff compiled the following list of requests we have heard from homebuyers throughout the year that may spark a plan for you too.

Home offices

One of the top requests we have heard this year is for dedicated office space that facilitates remote work and school more smoothly. Many families scrambled to find a space at kitchen tables or in a spare bedroom when the need arose, but now it is time to do it right. Your back deserves it.

It could be marked as an office or as flex space, but look for a room with a door that closes for privacy and has enough room to set up a proper desk with all the other supplies you need to be successful.

Bigger kitchens and bathrooms

The kitchen has long served as the heart of the home and this year made that role even more important than ever. The kitchen fed us of course, but also allowed us to connect with friends and family safely in a year of uncertainty. Because of that, buyers are looking for more functionality from the space with large islands and breakfast nooks.

Bathrooms started feeling cramped too with the extra traffic during the days at home. Buyers are now opting for freestanding showers with accessible entry and spacious double vanities to stretch out for your morning routine.

More storage space

Along with larger kitchens, homebuyers are looking for more convenient and conspicuous storage with walk-in pantries and floor-to-ceiling cabinets. This allows families to stock up on their favorite foods and keep the countertops clear.

Walk-in closets are another easy solution to help adults and kids alike stay organized and create more space by eliminating the need for extra dressers and drawers.

A new home of your own

This list is just a starting point. Think about the things that matter most to your family and how you can practically fit those needs. Consider the pain points in your current home and the features you cannot imagine life without.

Once you have your list ready, start looking at floor plans to find the right fit for you. If something is close, but not quite right, we can work with you to make adjustments too. Call (913) 884-6300 or contact us to start building your dream home.
