Fill Your Days With Fall Activities This October

October 15, 2021

The month of October is a moment in-between. Summer has slowly faded from our minds, but Christmas is still not yet within reach. It’s a moment to take a breath and marvel at the beautiful autumn colors turning the trees different shades of red, orange and yellow and smell the hot apple cider that fills the air. It’s not a time to wish away, so before the winter winds blow in and there’s still plenty of sunshine and a crisp, fall breeze on the horizon, Symphony Farms has put together a list of things you can do to embrace the fall season this month.

KC Family Fun Farm

If you’re looking for an event that will entertain your whole family, the Kansas City Pumpkin Patch in Olathe should be on your list to visit this fall. With a ninja course, human foosball, zip lines and pumpkin slides available, take full advantage of all of the activities set up each weekend at this local pumpkin patch. At the end of the day, don’t forget to load up on all of your favorite fall treats from the farm, and pick out some pumpkins to take home and carve.

KC Wine Company

While you’re in the Olathe area, don’t forget to make a quick trip over from the pumpkin patch to the KC Wine Co and enjoy a refreshing glass of wine or cider to finish off your afternoon. With every weekend full of live music, food trucks and special events like trivia nights, you’ll always find something to enjoy. Stop by for the Witches Wine Slushies featured on October 23 or bring your pup for a Howl-o-ween event on Halloween day.

Boo Bash

For some, the month of October is meant to be a time to experience a good scare, but if there are those in your group that would rather leave behind the haunted houses and hayrides, you might want to look into heading to Celebration Park in Gardner for the 25th Annual Boo Bash on October 28. At the Walk Through Boo, you can take a walk through the spooky trails set up and meet your friends later for music, hay rides and of course—candy.

ExBEERiment Brewing’s Halloween Part

If you’ve ever thought that you’re getting too old to go to a Halloween party, you’ve probably just been going to the wrong ones. ExBEERiment Brewing is hosting a party for the adults in Gardner from 7-10 p.m. on October 30. With games available, themed cocktails and a costume contest, you’ll be marking your calendar for next year’s party before you leave.

Trunk or Treat

Of course, it wouldn’t be October without a trick-or-treating event for the family, and the First Baptist Church of Gardner has exactly what you’re looking for. Their Trunk or Treat event is happening on October 31 from 3-5 p.m., so put on your best costumes and bring the whole family for a fun-filled afternoon of trick-or-treating.

Maple Leaf Festival

This coming weekend, the Maple Leaf Festival is back for another year. Since 1958, this community event has been celebrated on the third weekend of October to watch the maple tree leaves change and celebrate the harvest, and it’s only grown in spectacle since. On October 16 and 17, bring the whole family to enjoy craft exhibits, quilt shows, music performances and exquisite food items at an amazing event that also helps raise funds for local non-profit organizations.

At Symphony Farms, community is everything to us, and we want to make sure you have the best fall season with your family.
