Benefits of moving to the suburbs

July 1, 2021

When we ask our homeowners why they moved to Gardner, we get a wide range of answers. Some were looking for a quieter place to raise their family. Others wanted a larger home on more land. A few moved to southern Johnson County for the promising economic development that favors new businesses.

No matter your reason, there are many benefits of moving to the suburbs and with a community like Symphony Farms in Gardner.

Friendly atmosphere

Symphony Farms is setting a new standard for living in Gardner with resort-style amenities that are usually reserved for larger communities. These are paired with safe, walkable sidewalks and smartly designed cul-de-sacs where children can freely play. Although the community is in its fifth phase of development, it has retained its nostalgic environment. This is a credit to the homeowners who fill Symphony Farms with energy and are quick to welcome new neighbors into the fold.

As a city, Gardner follows that theme with a thriving Main Street where you will find local businesses and connect with other residents through a full calendar of events. Celebration Park, which is located just North of the Symphony Farms community is another popular destination hosting outdoor sports leagues, tournaments and events.

Easy commutes

A trend has developed in recent years, drawing families away from larger metropolitan cities and into the suburbs. This is due in part to increased remote work options as well as the other incentives mentioned above.

The same is true in Gardner which is one of the fastest-growing cities in Johnson County. It is located just 30 minutes south of downtown Kansas City off Interstate 35 and has a projected average growth of 1.3 percent through 2040.

Gardner is home to some of the area’s top employers like Cerner, Chewy, and Amazon. According to the city, the nearby New Century AirCenter generates a $1 billion annual economic impact on the metropolitan area. The industrial area around it spans three million square feet and employs nearly 5,000 workers in 63 businesses.

Desirable schools

Another draw for the area is the award-winning Gardner Edgerton School District. It is home to three National Blue Ribbon Schools and currently serves approximately 6,100 students. The district includes seven elementary schools, three middle schools and one high school that compete academically at regional, state and national competitions.
